Health Information Specialist

About the Role

As a Health Information Specialist at Dorothy Ley Hospice, you will play a crucial role in managing patient records and ensuring the accuracy and confidentiality of documentation. Your work will directly support the quality of care provided to our patients in a hospice setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain patient health records, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and protect patient confidentiality at all times.
• Support clinical staff by providing timely access to patient information and assisting with data entry into EMR systems.
• Conduct regular audits of patient records to ensure quality and compliance with organizational standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or a related field.
• Proven experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and familiarity with HIPAA standards.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Skills (Optional)

• Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or similar credential is a plus.
• Experience in a hospice or healthcare setting is preferred.
